H.G.S. league play is governed by H.G.S. league rules, division playing rules, and within the standards of A.S.A. game rules. League games are officiated by both youth and adult umpires. Youth umpires are developed through the H.G.S. Youth Umpire program. Individuals interested in becoming youth umpires become eligible to do so at the age 13. Hobart umpires, both youth and adult, are required to attend a A.S.A. Rules Clinic and A.S.A. Field Clinic annually. In addition, league umpires are required to attend all ongoing training, provided by the league U.I.C. throughout the season.
