Registration Message from our League President ... Bill SeDoris
Welcome to the 50th Year Celebration of Hobart Girls Softball. In 1962, a group of people had a vision of providing the young women from Hobart and the surrounding area with an opportunity to learn the game of softball and to develop into outstanding citizens.
The vision has continued throughout the years. Although the league has suffered many setbacks since its inception, there has always been those who believed in that dream and have stepped up. With every setback, the league has come back stronger.
Since I have been involved in the league, I have seen the league survive a devastating fire and the reconstruction of the concession stand, the theft and reestablishment of our operating funds, the construction of the three pavilions, new dugouts, fencing and lights for all three fields, and two additions to the storage buildings, When you first come out to the fields this spring, you will again see more improvements. A new storage barn was built at the end of last year. The fields have been reworked and the practice fields have been re-cut.
In addition to the improvements in the complex, the Executive Board has also spent the offseason looking for ways to improve the quality of play at the complex. The first step was to align our playing divisions with those of ASA, our governing body, and the other leagues in the area.
Tee ball will now be for 3-4 year olds. The 5-6 year olds will now play in a coach pitch division. Other division will align with the ASA divisions; 8 and under, 10 and under, and 12 and under. The Junior and Adult Women's divisions will not change.
There will also be a greater emphasis placed on training our managers and coaches. All these steps have been implemented to improve the quality of play for our girls. Preparing for this upcoming season has been a rewarding experience. For players who are returning, we hope that the 2012 season is the best you have ever experienced. For all our new players, welcome to our softball family. We hope that we can meet your expectations.
